पाककला स्पर्धा: उपवासाचे पदार्थ

नमस्कार, आपण मराठी मंडळी श्रावण-भाद्रपद महिन्यांची आणि त्यांत येणाऱ्या सणांची वाट बघत असतो. 

त्यामागे धार्मिक आणि अध्यात्मिक भावना असतेच. पण नक्कीच त्या त्या सणाबरोबर घरी बनवल्या जाणाऱ्या खास पदार्थांचीही ओढ असते. या महिन्यात वेगवेगळ्या निमित्ताने उपास करण्याचीही प्रथा आहे. त्यानिमित्ताने BMM २०२४ चा आहार चमू आपल्यासाठी ही खास स्पर्धा घेऊन येत आहे.

  • Prizes:
    • Winner:  Two tickets to a Marathi movie hosted by MMBA plus a certificate
    • Runner up: One ticket to a Marathi movie hosted by MMBA plus a certificate.

Last Day of Submission: August 1, 2023

Rules:

  1. Open to all Bay Area or California residents (as long as the dish is presented in person for tasting).
  2. Participation is free.
  3. Last date for entry submission is August 1, 2023.
  4. The recipe should be original.
  5. Only one entry per participant.
  6. The dish must be prepared at home and brought to the venue for the competition.
  7. The dish should consist of any item which can be eaten during fasting as per local beliefs and the dish can be either sweet, savory, or spicy.
  8. Participants should create and display one label which shows a list of ingredients and a short writeup about the food item.
  9. Participants must share the recipe with BMM including ingredients, measurements and cooking process.
  10. Participants must create and share the video of the cooking process for this competition.
  11. The video will be viewed by the Judging Committee at the time of the competition.
  12. Participants will lose points if the video is not provided.
  13. The recipe will be co-owned by  BMM after it is submitted.
  14. Food safety is extremely important. Participants must use high-quality ingredients and        maintain high standards of hygiene while preparing the dishes.
  15. The dishes should be prepared not more than 24 hours before being presented for tasting, and should be as fresh as possible.
  16. The dish should represent the category it is entered in.
  17. Participants must arrive at least half an hour before the competition start time.
  18. Each participant must bring at least 3 servings to serve individually to the judges.
  19. Participants should bring plates (glass or plastic) and cutlery (silverware) to serve the food for the judges.
  20. Extra servings are welcome for other participants and committee members to taste.
  21. Winners will be announced right after the competition.
  22. The Judging Committee’s decision will be the final

Judging Criteria:

  • Taste – 40 points
  • Originality and Creativity – 30 points
  • Plating / Presentation – 20 points
  • Video of the process – 10 points
